Pool Process and Timeline

Two of the most common questions that homeowners ask are, “how long is your waitlist?” and “when will we be swimming?” Our prefabricated pool solutions and project management approach get you swimming sooner.

The permit process is the most impactful factor for our time. Once we have the pool permit, we typically break ground within 2-4 weeks. From there, the pool portion is typically completed within 2-4 weeks depending on the type of pool and then the finishes such as hardscape, decking, landscape, and fencing usually wrap up in an additional 2-6 weeks depending on the scope. All in, we typically complete construction within 4-10 weeks.

Pool Design

Once we have honed in on your pool size and system, we create a site plan. With your sign-off, we submit this plan with our permit application and serve as our guide during construction. The elements above and beyond the pool, such as hardscape, decking, landscape, and other features, are scalable depending on the materials selected and footprint covered. With this in mind, we always do our best to design to your target budget to ensure we’re optimizing your investment and adding value to your home that will see a return down the line.

Pool Permitting

The permit process is the single most influencing factor for our timeline. Some permits pass in days while other pass in weeks or months. The permit requirements and turnaround depend on your jurisdiction, site characteristics, project footprint, and other factors.

Prefabricated Pool Production

While we’re waiting on your permit, we make the most of the runway to push your pool and equipment orders into production and fine-tuning our project approach and sequence so that we can meet our target of breaking ground within 2-3 weeks of permit approval. Let’s talk through the specific expectations for your case together.

Pool Installation

With the permit in-hand, our first step is site preparation, which can include demo, tree removal, construction accessibility accommodations, and grading work. On “Dig Day,” we excavate and prepare the pool hole. In the event of dense material under the surface, the digging phase can bleed into an additional day. On “Drop Day,” we place your pool using a crane, complete the initial plumbing and electrical work, backfill, and for fiberglass, water-fill as well.

Pool Utilities & Inspections

After progress on “Dig Day” and “Drop Day,” we await our first electrical and rough-in inspections. Depending on the unique project nuances, this period of time can feel like a little progress followed by days of waiting because there is only so much work that can be done between inspections due to the required sequencing.

Pool Fill & Fire Up

For fiberglass pools, we water-fill on “Drop Day” because the weight of the water helps to secure it in position. For other pools, we hold off until we’re closer to firing up your equipment. Once your pool is filled, we provide your first eight cleanings. Many of our clients choose to extend service while others choose to do it themselves. Once the required inspections are completed and your pool is filled with water, we’ll fire on your equipment, ensure all is functioning properly, and orient you on how to use your system through our “Pool School.”

Learning how to operate and maintain your system can have a learning curve, but like anything else, it becomes more familiar over time. We encourage you to take advantage of resources such as Pool University.

Pool Project Finishes

Once the pool is filled and equipment is fire up, we turn focus to the finishes such as hardscape, decking, landscape, fencing, and other desired features. This phase typically takes an additional 2-4 weeks, depending on the selected materials, scale of the footprint, and intricacies of the design. The final piece of the puzzle is typically the fence, which has specific requirements for pool code in Tennessee. Finally, we coordinate the final inspections and close out the permit with a Use & Occupancy Certificate.
